California officials said they have charged a Las Vegas couple with grand theft and other felonies in connection with the sale of in-home service agreements.
The agreements were fake, according to officials at the California Department of Insurance and the San Diego County district attorney's office.
The defendants in the case, Michael and Melissa Woodward, were arrested in Las Vegas, extradited to San Diego, and arraigned during a hearing in a state court in San Diego, officials said.
For a prepaid annual fee, the program the defendants sold was supposed to provide "an unlimited amount of non- medical services such as cooking, cleaning, bathing, toileting, dressing, laundry and shopping," officials said.
