Nothing can snap U.S. lawmakers into action like trying to stop flight delays. This week, a bipartisan accord passed a measure to end air traffic controller furloughs responsible for the flight delays. The furloughs are part of the sequester that came out of failed government budget negotiations. The legislation, expected to be signed into law by President Obama, gives the Transportation Department budget planners more flexibility in dealing with forced spending cuts. More than 3,000 flights have been delayed since the furloughs went into effect last week.
