Mississippi’s only abortion clinic will remain open while a federal lawsuit is pending to challenge a 2012 law. The 2012 law requires that all OB GYNs that perform abortions at the clinic have privileges to admit the patients to a local hospital. Many hospitals do not want to take the patients because they are affiliated with a religious institution or do not want anti-abortion protesters on their premises. No matter how the case plays out, the women of Mississippi will be able to use the clinic for the time being.
