Standalone emergency care facilities are great for getting speedy medical treatment, but they are usually not in anybody’s health plans, and while they provide the same level of care as a hospital ER, they tend to come with whopping out-of-pocket costs for those who get care at them. This has led insurance carriers such as Aetna to oppose these operations on a cost basis.
