In an interview with Bloomberg News, NAIC president Jim Donelon suggested that President Obama needs to delay the planned October implementation date for health insurance exchange, or else “chaos” with subsidized insurance plans will result. The NAIC, which represents state insurance regulators, has regularly criticized any initiative that suggests a federal overtone to insurance oversight. The implementation of state insurance exchanges has become a hot button for those states unhappy with PPACA, and those states that have not yet implemented a state insurance exchange by the deadline will have to watch as the federal government does it for them.
