Economist: Euro crisis could erupt again this year

As European leaders gather in Davo, Switzerland, at the World Economic Forum, looking for signs that the eurozone has finally turned the corner from and express certitude that the eurozone has finally turned a corner after its year of fiscal turbulence, one economist insists that Europe is not out of the woods yet. In fact, says one economist from UC Berkeley, Europe is primed for another euro crisis this year because it has not really absorbed the harsh lessons taught by the first euro crisis. Given that actually leaving the euro would be prohibitively costly for any debt-stricken nation to do, the eurozone is stuck with poor performers while stalwarts such as Germany teeter dangerously close to recession themselves.
