Guardian Life on recruitment drive

The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian) reported today that 2012 was the most successful recruiting year in the company’s 152 year history.

Guardian hired 930 financial representatives over the year and plans to continue the trajectory with plans to hire another 875 in 2013.

The news is especially refreshing when other life companies are making similar announcements at a time when the high unemployment rate is making headlines, this could be harbinger of better times to come. Couple that with the fact that the workforce within the life industry is ‘graying’ and will be retiring soon, and the news is extremely positive.

Scott Rich, Field Vice President of Financial Representative Recruiting for Guardian feels that although the financial crisis has depleted much of the money that Americans have for discretionary spending (under which life insurance falls) the meltdown has also worked to highlight the importance of planning for one’s financial future.

In 2013, the company will focus its recruiting efforts on career changers and recent college graduates. The company also plans on hiring more women in the new year. Guardian feels that their flexible work schedule will be attractive to women. The company plans on at least 28 percent of their new hires being women in 2013.
