Living with cancer: Dancing with N.E.D.

While there is a lot of cancer awareness in this country, gynecological cancer – specifically cervical, endometrial, ovarian, peritoneal, tubal, vaginal and vulval cancers—exist under a shroud of silence. To increase awareness and acceptance of these cancers, a group of gynecological oncologists formed a folks rock band called N.E.D., for the medical parlance used when a cancer screening comes back clean: “no evidence of disease.” As N.E.D. openly addresses forms of cancer people would rather not talk about, it provides powerful support for those who experience these cancers, giving them a mental and emotional edge when it comes to prevailing through treatment.
