Why the falling birthrate is bad for my 2-year-old son

The U.S. birthrate recently fell to its lowest point since we’ve been keeping track. Some argue this could mean today’s children will be worse off in the future. Their small, young population will struggle to contribute more money to Social Security and Medicare in order to support a larger elderly one. Others, though, say we need to stop the hand wringing already.
