Going over the fiscal cliff is in no one’s best interest—Republican or Democrat, says Brian Gardner, senior VP, Washington Research – KBW. Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner, R-Ohio, says Congress is waiting for President Obama to lead them “not as a liberal or a conservative, but as president of the United States” away from the edge. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, recently said, however, that the key to avoiding the cliff is revenue and one way to get that is from wealthier Americans—which Americans are apparently in favor of based on the way the majority voted in the election.
