In response to the LifeHealthPro.com article: “What do boomers think about fixed indexed annuities?”

America needs annuities. Annuities can help boomers and seniors avoid bankruptcy from low bank interest rates and market losses in IRAs and 401Ks.
~Paul J. Cross/ANBNC

Yes, fixed annuities, both “declared rate” and indexed, can be valuable tools for consumers (boomers included, perhaps even boomers especially). But, as is the case with any tool, a fixed annuity is just that, a tool. It’s not the only appropriate one, or one that will usually be more appropriate than any other. I’m not for or against annuities for precisely the same reason that I’m not for a .22 rifle or a 9mm semi-automatic pistol—or against either of those weapon types. I choose.

John, I love your comment. Here’s what I said to another article…Split funding/laddering using a combination of immediate annuities, deferred annuities, mutual funds, dividend stocks, etc. can provide the guarantees, liquidity and flexibility that retirees are looking for. Everyone’s situation is different. No one product can do it all. You don’t put all your eggs in one basket!
~Lew Nason, www.InsuranceProShop.com

We need to make sure the message is getting out there. I know the mainstream media is anti-annuity. They never miss a chance to bash our products or our methods. As an industry we need to do a better job of educating “John Q. Public” and getting our names and our products out there. I really believe that boomers will come around if we do a better job of truly educating people. We will still have to fight the battle against the media. I don’t think that will be going away.
