Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company (Northwestern Mutual) won the 2012 Infoworld Enterprise Architecture Award for the synergy between their overall business and technology strategies and the millions of dollars in business benefits that has yielded.

The information technology award is presented by Infoworld, an information technology online media and events company, and Forrester Research Inc., a global research and advisory firm. Also in collaboration with the award is the Penn State University Center for Enterprise Architecture.

Due to Northwestern Mutual’s technology management practices that have increased technology project results, reduced risk and shortened the annual enterprise architecture planning process from a six-month process down to a three-week process, the award selection committee felt that they were a worthy recipient.

Karl Gouverneur, vice president and chief technology architect for Northwestern Mutual indicated that the award was a validation of the company’s client-focused attention to technology.

“As a mutual company, we make decisions about technology the same way we do for all other aspects of our business. We concentrate on delivering long-term value by doing what is right for our policyowners and clients.”
