Analysts at the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation recently found that increases in health insurance costs slowed between 2010 and 2011. Now Derek Thompson has looked at the same survey data and pointed out that workers’ health care costs grew 4 times faster than earnings from 1999 to 2012. “Essentially,” Thompson says, “we traded income for insurance.”
