Former Pershing and Fidelity executive Jim Dario has been named the new managing director of product management for TD Ameritrade Institutional. In this role, he will lead the strategy for product development across core advisor offerings including technology, practice management and wealth management solutions, according to the company.

Jim DarioDario (left) will oversee new product introductions and “the delivery of key solutions including technology integrations, business development tools and investment management products to support more than 4,000 independent registered investment advisors (RIAs) who custody with TD Ameritrade Institutional,”  the company said in a statement.

“We went through a reorganization not too long ago where we separated project management from analytics, and we identified these three areas as critical to advisor success,” said Tom Nally, president, TD Ameritrade Institutional. “We really want to take the lead in getting advisors what they need in order to help them service their clients. With Jim’s experience in the industry, we knew that, culturally, it would be a good fit.”

Prior to joining TD Ameritrade, Dario was the managing director of business development and relationship management at Pershing Advisor Solutions, where he was responsible for leading the vision and delivery of advisor recruiting and business development programs to assist RIAs in growing their businesses.

Previously, Dario served as the executive vice president of relationship management at Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services. In this role, he led service and relationship management teams focused on helping RIAs achieve their business goals through the implementation of industry best practices, including marketing and business development, workflow processes and technology usage.

When asked about his immediate plans, Dario quipped, “To get through day one,” before adding that he has long admired the leadership position TD Ameritrade has enjoyed in the areas of technology, practice management and wealth management solutions and “wanted to be centered around those three pillars.”

Dario holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Saint Lawrence University. He holds Series 6, 7, 9, 10, 24 and 63 licenses.
