About 89% of the filmgoers who rate films at Rottentomatoes.com have said they like Robot & Frank, a new movie about an electronic home health care attendant.

Frank Langella stars in the film as a retired burglar who gets a long-term care (LTC) robot rather than going into a nursing home. The cast also includes Liv Tyler and Susan Sarandon.

Peter Sarsgaard plays the voice of the robot.

Jake Schreier directed the film. The film is his first feature.

Samuel Goldwyn is the distributor.

The film comes on the heels of a conference on LTC technology that took place in Prague in May. Attendees at the conference talked about ways to use robots and other forms of technology to help older people who are frail or disabled stay in their homes.

In April, Swiss researchers demonstrated a robot that could be directed by a disabled man who was using a head cap control device.

George Friedman, a strategic policy analyst, has predicted that robots will displace Mexicans who are working as home health care and nursing home attendants in the 2060s and 2070s. Friedman says the rise of the robot LTC attendants could lead to severe friction between the United States and Mexico around that time.
