A recent Gallup Poll found 55.9% of American adults ages 26 to 64 received employer-provided health insurance in 2012, down from 61.6% in 2008. The percentage of young adults ages 18 to 25 receiving health insurance from their employer appears to have stabilized at 31.9% since a drop from 2008 to 2010. Dependence on government health insurance is at 25.7%, “still much higher than it was in 2008 and 2009,” according to Gallup. In the second quarter of 2012, 19.7% of adults ages 18 to 25 got their health coverage from a government program, up from 18.9% in 2011, and 16.3% in 2008.
