Organizers of the 3in4 Need More long-term care insurance (LTCI) promotional campaign say their star elder care specialist, Marion Somers, got two big blasts of Northeastern U.S. television exposure in late June.

“Dr. Marion,” a Ph.D. who is driving around the country in a vintage Greyhound bus to draw attention to the need for long-term care (LTC) planning, appeared in a television interview on Fox 61 in Hartford June 19.

That station reaches about 1 million households.

Dr. Marion called in for a live, on-air segment on News 12 NJ June 25. That segment aired twice on the channel, which reaches 1.8 million TV households.

3in4 campaign promoters say they are trying make Dr. Marion wacky enough to appeal to late-night talk-show hosts and have a good shot at getting her on a major national radio network in the next few weeks.

The tour is set to end this month.

The 3in4 Association, Kirkland, Wash., organized a similar campaign in 2011. This year, the group is trying to add sizzle by doing home makeovers and running a national talent contest for caregivers and seniors. The talent contest grand prize will be a year of living rent-free housing in a “senior living” community operated by Emeritus Corp., Seattle (NYSE:ESC), a bus tour sponsor.
