WASHINGTON (AP) — Florida’s Republican governor — one of the staunchest opponents of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA) — says his state will carry out the law if the Supreme Court upholds it.

Gov. Rick Scott told reporters Wednesday “if it is the law of the land, then we are going to comply.” The highly anticipated ruling is expected before the end of next week.

Scott says he hasn’t changed his mind that the health care overhaul is unconstitutional. His state has refused to set up new insurance markets under the law, returning planning money to Washington. Scott says Florida still has time to comply.

The governor spoke on a conference call organized by conservative groups opposed to the law.
