PPACA: Senators Request Live TV Coverage of Ruling Release

WASHINGTON (AP) — The leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee are asking the Supreme Court to allow live television coverage when it delivers its ruling on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, the highest ranking Republican on the committee, said the issues in the case are as important and consequential as any in recent court history.

In a letter to Chief Justice John Roberts, the senators said the court, sometimes known on the Internet as “SCOTUS,” should be aware of the great interest Americans have in the outcome of the case. They also noted that millions of citizens would be able to view what only a few could see from the court’s limited public seating.
