Overwhelming, complex and intimidating are amongst the reasons 37% of young investors said they’ll “never feel comfortable investing in the stock market,” compared with 25% of all respondents, according to an MFS Investing Sentiment Survey. “A majority of younger investors feel the volatility of the stock market is normal but more than one-third behave as if they are scared by it, keeping 33% of their assets in cash,” said William Finnegan, senior managing director of global retail marketing at MFS. Financial advisors are in a good position because 25% of investors said their need for professional advice has increased in the past 12 months, 36% of investors say they are seeking more advice these days, and 81% say they rely on their advisor to keep them up to date on new products and innovations.
