New Hire Roundup: Peluso Named President of First Clearing; Dyke Moves Up at American College

HandshakeThis week in new hires, Wells Fargo Advisors named John Peluso the new president of First Clearing and The American College named Barry James Dyke to the advisory board of the New Northwestern Mutual Granum Center for Financial Security.

Also, Dennis Allen and M. Kristan Rizzolo joined Sutherland.

Wells Fargo Advisors Names FiNet’s John Peluso to Lead First Clearing

Wells Fargo Advisors announced Tuesday that John Peluso has been named president of First Clearing Correspondent Services, a registered broker-dealer and a nonbank affiliate of Wells Fargo & Co. In this new role, he will work with senior executives to further develop clearing strategy.

Peluso, an IA 25 honoree, led Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, the independent contractor unit of Wells Fargo known as FiNet, for the last decade. He joined the organization in 1988. Prior to his role with Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, he was a managing director in the private client group, where he led business development efforts for retail brokerage recruiting and was the national director of Profit Formula. Earlier, he served as the western region sales director for First Clearing Correspondent Services.

Barry James Dyke Appointed to Granum Center Board at The American College

Laurence Barton, Ph.D., CEO and Sharen L. King, MSM, executive director of The American College, announced on Wednesday that they have appointed Barry James Dyke to serve on the advisory board of the New Northwestern Mutual Granum Center for Financial Security.

Dyke consults with individuals and industry groups and frequently speaks about Wall Street and how consumers can prepare themselves better. He is also the author of the 2007 book The Pirates of Manhattan and its 2012 sequel, The Pirates of Manhattan II: Highway to Serfdom.

Sutherland Adds Two Partners

Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP recently announced the addition of Dennis Allen and M. Kristan Rizzolo as partners in Washington. Both were previously partners at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP.

Allen is an insurance tax practitioner who began his legal career at Sutherland in 1980. At Sutherland and then at Dewey & LeBoeuf, his practice focused on advising insurance companies, insurance intermediaries and large commercial insureds on tax and insurance law matters. His experience includes insurance company mergers and acquisitions (both domestic and international), mutual insurance company restructurings, insurance and reinsurance product work and tax controversy matters.

Rizzolo is an adviser to insurance companies on a wide variety of federal tax and insurance law matters. With experience in both domestic and international tax planning, she counsels clients in connection with insurance company mergers and acquisitions, including cross-border transactions, and offshore insurance arrangements. She also regularly represents clients in tax controversy matters and on the development of insurance and reinsurance products.
