ERISA Council to Discuss Disability Risk

The Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans plans to start 3 days of meetings in Washington June 12.

The council, often called the ERISA Advisory Council, will spend one day talking about strategies for “managing disability risks in an environment of individual responsibility.

The council also intends to talk about post-retirement income and about the best procedures to use when keeping track of employees’ life insurance plan and retirement plan beneficiaries.

Written comments are due June 5.

The advisory council advises the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) and EBSA’s parent, the U.S. Labor Department, on issues that with some connection to the federal Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974.
