OneAmerica Promotes John Mason to Chief Investment Officer

OneAmerica Financial Partners, Inc. announced Tuesday that John Mason has been promoted to CIO. He succeeds Dave Sapp, who is retiring after 43 years with the company.

Mason has 26 years of investment experience with the OneAmerica companies, most recently serving as vice president of the investment division. In that role, Mason was responsible for $11.8 billion of fixed income assets for all OneAmerica affiliates and the OneAmerica Series of mutual funds.

Van Eck’s Market Vectors Adds High Yield Portfolio Manager

Market Vectors ETFs announced March 30 that Francis Rodilosso has joined the firm’s investment team as portfolio manager of the upcoming Market Vectors International High Yield Bond ETF (IHY). He will work alongside Portfolio Manager Michael Mazier on the fixed income team.

Prior to joining, Rodilosso spent two years as managing director of global emerging markets with The Seaport Group. Before that, he was a founding partner with Soundbrook Capital LLC. Earlier, he spent several years as managing director, portfolio manager and head of risk management with Greylock Capital Management, and held senior level fixed income positions with both Credit Lyonnais and HSBC Securities.

BlackRock Adds Emerging Markets Debt Specialists

BlackRock, Inc. announced Tuesday that seven emerging market specialists will be joining BlackRock from BNP Paribas Investment Partners to form a new emerging markets debt team. The new team will be led by Sergio Trigo-Paz and will be based in London.

Sergio Trigo-Paz is currently CIO for emerging markets fixed income at BNP Paribas Investment Partners. He has over 17 years of experience in emerging markets fixed income, including in market making/proprietary trading and asset management. Earlier in his career, he worked as a proprietary trader at a subsidiary of Banca Intesa in Paris, as a market maker in emerging market sovereign and corporate bonds at ANZ and Long Term Credit Bank in New York and as an exotic debt/nonperforming debt trader at Société Générale.

BlackRock Appoints Alex Hoctor-Duncan Head of Retail for Europe, Middle East and Africa

BlackRock, Inc. announced March 30 that Alex Hoctor-Duncan has been appointed head of retail for Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EMEA), a new position, effective immediately. He most recently served as head of sales for EMEA and will report to Rob Fairbairn, head of BlackRock’s Global Client Group (GCG) and James Charrington, chairman of the EMEA region for BlackRock. He will also join BlackRock’s EMEA and GCG executive committees, and will continue to be based in London.

Hoctor-Duncan had been head of U.K. retail since 2007 and head of U.K. retail sales since 2005. Prior to that, he had worked within GCG with responsibility for developing and maintaining relationships with retail investors.

Maarten Slendebroek, who had been responsible for international retail since 2010, will leave BlackRock after assisting with the transition of roles until the end of April. Mark McCombe, BlackRock’s chairman of Asia Pacific, will oversee the retail business in that region. Armando Senra, deputy head of the Latin America & Iberia Region, will oversee the retail business in that region.

Gresham Partners Hires Tim Joeng

Independent wealth management firm Gresham Partners announced Monday that Tim Joeng has joined the firm. As a principal and senior member of the investment team, Joeng is responsible for sourcing investment opportunities, performing manager due diligence and building client portfolios. He reports directly to Ted Neild, president and chief investment officer, and is a member of Gresham’s investment committee.

Joeng brings to Gresham over 10 years of alternative investment and portfolio management experience in a broad range of investing environments, including family offices and an endowment. Prior to Gresham, he was a portfolio manager and nonmarketable securities officer at Williams College Investment Office. From 2000 to 2007, he sourced investments, performed due diligence and managed portfolio strategies for institutional single-family offices, including Capital Guidance. He started his finance career in 1997 as an analyst at J.P. Morgan & Co.
