INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — WellPoint Inc. earned a little less in 2011, and so did the earnings of its chairman, Angela Braly.

WellPoint, Indianapolis (NYSE:WLP), says total 2011 net income fell 8% in 2011, to about $2.7 billion, as a result of a $150 million hit at its Medicare Advantage business.

Braly’s total compensation fell about 2%, to about $13 million. She received a $1.1 million salary, a performance-related bonus of about $2 million, and about $10 million in stock and option awards, according to calculations based on information in reports filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

WellPoint runs Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in 14 states.
