LifeSecure Insurance Company, a long-term care insurer, has set up a Web-based supermarket for caregivers.

The Caregiver’s Marketplace offers a selection of about 6,000 home care products, including medical supplies, daily living aids, adaptive clothing, and home modification tools, according to LifeSecure, Brighton, Mich.

LifeSecure has set up the site with help from alliances with two online retailers, Parentgiving.com and Silvert’s Adaptive Clothing and Footwear, the company says.

LifeSecure also sells other support services aimed at elderly people and their families, such as care planning services and help with finding care providers.

Parentgiving.com offers a library with hundreds of elder care articles on its website. The company also offers visitors a chance to get advice from a panel of 27 health experts.

In the Alzheimer’s and dementia section, for example, the site sells unbreakable plates, alarms, and a calculator that comes with a brain exerciser function.

Like many companies, Parentgiving.com has an “about” section that describes the companies owners and managers. Unlike most other companies’ about sections, the Parentgiving.com site talks about its owners’ and managers’ personal experiences with providing care.
