Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company has written over 12,300 policies to the working poor since it launched its LifeBridge Free Life Insurance Program in 2002. There are a few qualifications: applicants must be a legal resident of the U.S. between ages 19 and 42, have dependent(s) under age 18, have a total family income between $10,000 and $40,000, and be in good health as determined by the company. The $50,000 can be used for college, trade school, prep school or to pay off a dependent’s current student loans. Available in all 50 states, MassMutual is committed to writing $1 billion worth of free term life insurance policies for the working poor.
