AHIP’s Karen Ignagni Discusses Health Care Costs and Innovation at Harvard Business School (AHIP Coverage)

On Saturday, AHIP’s president and CEO Karen Ignagni gave a presentation on health care costs and innovation to the 9th Annual Healthcare Conference at Harvard Business School. Among other topics, she addressed rising health care costs (adjusting for inflation and population growth, spending on health care has grown nearly five times as much as GDP since 1960), challenges faced by today’s health insurers (including unintended consequences coming in 2014) and the opportunity for collaboration between the public and private sectors (asking, “how can we establish a regulatory context that promotes the same goals?”).
