The demise of the CLASS Act at the end of last month signaled to many that the rest of Obama’s health care reform plan may be just a few steps behind. Objections to the law abound, particularly among Republicans, and, on Nov. 10th, the U.S. Supreme will hold a closed-door meeting to discuss whether to hear the various legal challenges to it. In the meantime, the battle over the CLASS Act continues, even after its announced cancelation. Republicans say that the announcement by HHS isn’t enough; they want Congress to repeal it. Meanwhile, Democrats worry that there isn’t any other solution on the horizon that will help meet the growing need for long-term care.
