The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has picked Gary Bhojwani to be one of its directors.
Bhojwani, president of Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, Golden Valley, Minn., a unit of Allianz S.E., Munich, is joining the board of an organization that represents about 3 million U.S. businesses.
Bhojwani began working for Allianz Life, which has about 2,000 U.S.-based employees, in 2007.
Bhojwani has a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from the University of Illinois and a master’s degree in business from the University of Chicago. He is on the boards of the Insured Retirement Institute, Washington, and the American Council of Life Insurers, Washington.
Bhojwani says in a statement that he hopes to use his place on the chamber board to talk about retirement security.
“Retirement is at a crossroads in America,” Bhojwani says.
