Sterling Life Insurance Company is taking over from Fidelity Life Association as the issuing carrier for a program that helps local health plans fill out-of-area coverage gaps.

Associated Marketing of Virginia Inc. (AMVA), Naples, Fla., will be using Sterling Life, Bellingham, Wash., to back its NationCare product line.

The NationCare program serves local and regional health insurers that want to compete for the business of employers with employees in more than one market. The program now provides coverage for about 6,000 members in 49 states.

Sterling Life is a unit of Munich Health North America Inc., a U.S. arm of M?nchener R?ckversicherungs-Gesellschaft A.G., Munich, Germany. Munich Re acquired Sterling Life in 2008.

The incumbent NationCare carrier — Fidelity Life Association, Ann Arbor, Mich. – is a unit of Members Mutual Holding Company, Oak Brook, Ill., and has no connection with Fidelity Investments.
