Joseph Nichols to Lead ACOPA

Joseph Nichols is now president of the ASPPA College of Pension Actuaries (ACOPA).

The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA), Arlington, Va., formed ACOPA in 2008, when ASPPA absorbed the College of Pension Actuaries.

ASPPA represents about 7,500 retirement plan and benefits professionals. All ASPPA members who are credentialed actuaries are members of ACOPA. ACOPA speaks for ASPPA members who are actuaries on proposed regulations and proposed laws affecting actuarial matters.

Nichols is a pension actuary and president of McCloud & Nichols Inc., Liberty, Mo. He has a degree in actuarial science from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Nichols is an enrolled actuary and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, Washington.

The other 2011-2012 ACOPA officers are Mark Dunbar president elect; David Lipkin, vice president; Kurt Piper, vice president; Lynn Young, secretary; and Eugene Joseph, budget officer.
