Noel Beasley, president of Workers United, is the new chairman of Amalgamated Life Insurance Company.

Beasley will succeed Bruce Raynor, who is retiring, according to Amalgamated Life, White Plains, N.Y.

Amalgamated Life was founded in 1943 to provide insurance and related products and services for unions and union members.

Beasley’s group, Workers United, New York, represents about 150,000 workers in the United States and Canada who work in the laundry, food service, hospitality, gaming, apparel, textile, manufacturing and distribution industries.

Beasley first joined a union in 1974, when he was a welder with the Textile Workers Union in a factory in Indiana. He has been a trustee of a number of union pension and health and welfare funds, Amalgamated says.

Beasley has a bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine College and a master’s degree from Purdue University.
