ERISA Panel Schedules Meetings

The Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans plans to start 3 days of meetings in Washington Aug. 30.

The council, often called the ERISA Advisory Council, will discuss 403(b) retirement plan compliance, investments in hedge funds and private equity funds, and privacy and security issues at benefit plans other than health plans.

Interested parties have already submitted 4 comments on hedge fund and private equity investments, 4 comments on privacy and security issues, and 6 on 403(b) plan concerns.

The advisory council advises the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) and EBSA’s parent, the U.S. Labor Department, on issues that with some connection to the federal Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974.
