Humana Inc. is expanding a national Medicare service operations center in Florida.

Humana, Louisville, Ky. (NYSE:HUM), will be adding 200 full-time positions at the center, the company says.

Humana already has about 500 Tampa-based employees handling calls, claims and written inquiries from Medicare members and providers.

The new employees will include customer care specialists and frontline supervisors.

Humana needs to hire employees by the end of September to have time to train them for the 2012 Medicare open enrollment period, which will start Oct. 15 and run through Dec. 7, the company says.
