Hub International Ltd. is expanding its distribution network in the South.

Hub, Chicago, an insurance broker, has agreed to buy Strategic Employee Benefit Services of Louisiana L.L.C. (SEBS), Metairie, La.

Hub is not saying how much it has agreed to pay for SEBS, but it says it hopes to complete the deal in August.

SEBS will become part of Hub’s Hub Gulf South unit, and Kevin Gardner, the president of SEBS, and Mike Ford, the vice president, will go to work for Hub, Hub says.

SEBS was founded in 1991 and has offices in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Covington and Houma. The firm sells disability insurance, long term care plans and voluntary benefits as well as group health plans and individual benefit plans.

The SEBS staffers who move to Hub will be able to sell property-casualty insurance as well as life and health products, Hub says.

Hub notes that it already has had offices in Metairiem, Baton Rouge and Lafayette.
