New Hire Roundup: RIA Brinton Eaton Adds Wells Fargo Advisor

This week in new hires, wealth management firm Brinton Eaton welcomed  Mary Ellen Hancock, formerly of  Wells Fargo Private Bank; Neuberger Berman brought in three new salespeople to its defined contribution team; the Options Industry Council named Alan Grigoletto as its new director of education. In addition, Hatteras Funds added Frank Burke to its management team.

Neuberger Berman Adds to Defined Contribution Sales Team

Neuberger Bermanannounced Monday that it was building out its defined contribution sales force with the addition of three new wholesalers to a team of 12 internal and external sales people, up from a total of four last year.

The new salespeople include Tim Guay, vice president of retirement, who joined Neuberger Berman on Monday from MFS Investment Management and will be based in San Francisco; Jae Kim, vice president of retirement, who joined Neuberger Berman in May from The Standard, covering the southwest region; and Chris Walker, vice president, who joined the firm from Fidelity in early June to cover the south-central region.

They will report to Chris Simmons, national sales manager for the retirement solutions team, who joined Neuberger Berman in 2008 and reports to Scott Kilgallen, managing director overseeing intermediary distribution for retirement services, subadvisory relationships, registered investment advisors and private banks. Kilgallen joined Neuberger Berman from Goldman Sachs Asset Management in October 2010.

Mary Ellen Hancock Joins Brinton Eaton From Wells Fargo

New Jersey-based advisory firm Brinton Eaton announced Tuesday that Mary Ellen Hancock, CFP, has joined the firm as a financial advisor. She will work as part of a team delivering integrated financial planning, income tax and estate planning, investment management and family office services to affluent clients.

Prior to joining Brinton Eaton, Hancock worked at Wells Fargo Private Bank for 12 years, where she served in various roles, including client management associate, financial advisor, and regional financial planner. She holds a B.S. in marketing/management from Montclair State University and is currently pursuing an M.S. in taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Options Industry Council Names Grigoletto New Director of Education

The Options Industry Council (OIC) announced Tuesday it had named Alan Grigoletto as director of education as part of its expanding effort to educate retail investors, their financial advisors and institutional investors on the risks and benefits of exchange-listed options.

In his new role, Grigoletto will manage the education efforts of the three areas of outreach for OIC: retail investors, financial advisors and institutions. Based in Chicago, he will assist the marketing team in evaluating outreach strategies; collaborate on options curriculum, collateral development and Web content for the OIC websites; and work with the media to promote options education. He will also participate in conferences, trade shows and panel discussions.

Prior to joining OIC, Grigoletto served as the head of all business development and was responsible for maintaining client relationships and making business recommendations at the Boston Options Exchange (BOX). Before his stint at BOX, he was a founding partner at the investment advisory firm of Chicago Analytic Capital Management. He has nearly 30 years of expertise in trading and investments as an options market maker, stock specialist, institutional trader and portfolio manager.

Hatteras Funds Hires Former GenSpring Manager

Hatteras Funds announced on Wednesday that Frank Burke had joined the firm as associate, public investments. In this role, Burke will focus on the Hatteras Multi-Strategy Funds, working closely with investment advisory relationships and assisting in hedge fund due diligence.

Prior to joining Hatteras, Burke managed portfolios and conducted traditional and alternative manager due diligence at GenSpring Family Offices and Wells Fargo Family Wealth (formerly Calibre Investment Consulting). In addition, he served as a financial planner for high-net-worth individuals at Asset Management Group and performed competitive analysis and research on the mutual fund industry for Fidelity Investments in Boston.

Burke received a bachelor of science degree at Villanova University and an MBA from the Fuqua School at Duke University. He holds the CFA and CAIA designations.
