New Hire Roundup: FAA Top Leaders Move, FRC Names Jenkins, Meyer Goes to Merk

This week in new hires, Financial Advisers of America named a new chairman, CEO, and president from within the company; Financial Research Corp. brought in Fidelity's Robert J. Jenkins as president; and Merk Investments named Fidelity's Emily Meyer vice president of sales. Millburn opened a new Japanese branch office and added Seiji Ishii to lead business development efforts there. In addition, accounting firm Marks Paneth & Shron LLP appointed Brian L. Fox as its CFO, and PerTrac brought in Lisa Corvese as managing director of global business strategy and Jed Alpert as managing director of global marketing.

Financial Advisers of America Shuffles Top Execs

Financial Advisers of Americaon Tuesday announced that it has significantly changed its executive management team. The firm's former CEO, Ken Johnston, has transitioned to chairman; former President Jodi Johnston has been appointed CEO and former COO Todd Pack has become president and COO.

Financial Research Corp. Names New President

Financial Research Corp. announced May 26 that it has hired Robert J. Jenkins as president of the firm. Prior to joining FRC, Jenkins was at Fidelity Investments and Fidelity Management & Research, where he held several leadership positions, including vice president in the investment analysis group and vice president and investment director for Fidelity's Freedom Fund in the global asset allocation group. He previously was a McKinsey & Co. consultant in the asset management strategy practice.

"Bob Jenkins is highly respected by the financial services industry for his expertise and thought leadership, said FRC Chairman Bob Hedges in a statement. "We are excited about his joining the firm as we believe he will build significantly on FRC's current ability to provide thorough and insightful analysis of key issues for asset managers, distributors and others in the investment marketplace."

Merk Investments LLC Gains Meyer

In another get from Fidelity,Merk Investments LLC announced Wednesday that it has named Emily Meyer vice president of sales. Meyer will be partnering with registered investment advisors in the eastern U.S., and will report to Peter Moeller, director of distribution, who himself joined the company this past spring.

Prior to joining Merk, Meyer was senior regional investment consultant at Fidelity Investments Institutional Services, where her team established Fidelity's registered investment advisor (RIA) sales team.

MillburnNames Ishii Head of New Japanese Branch

Connecticut-based Millburn announced on May 24 that it has opened a Japan branch office through its affiliate Millburn International LLC, and named Seiji Ishii as Japan country head, effective May 1. The new office, located in Tokyo's financial center in the Marunouchi district, will be under Ishii's management.

Ishii joins Millburn from Wellington International Management, Japan, where he chaired the firm's Japan Investment Management Committee and was a senior member of Wellington's business management committee. Ishii's prior experience also includes his role as managing director and Japan country head for GAM. Ishii will focus on continuing to build Millburn's reputation in Japan as a global macro CTA manager.

Marks Paneth & Shron LLP Gains Fox

New York-area accounting firm Marks Paneth & Shron LLP said on Wednesday that it has appointed Brian L. Fox chief financial officer. He will oversee the financial team and lead a strategy to support the firm's ongoing growth and expansion.

Fox most recently served as CFO of Loureiro Engineering Associates, a Hartford, Conn.-based environmental engineering and construction firm. He was previously a divisional CFO for Construction Services and Consultants Inc., a West Palm Beach, Fla.-based construction management firm. Fox began his career at Arthur Andersen, where he served as a senior associate in the firm's assurance and business advisory services division, based in Hartford, Conn., and West Palm Beach, Fla.

PerTrac Adds Corvese and Alpert

PerTracannounced on May 25 that it has added Lisa Corvese to its team as managing director of global business strategy and Jed Alpert as managing director of global marketing.

Before joining PerTrac, Corvese served as head of global client relationship management for GlobeOp Financial Services, an independent financial technology firm that provides fund administration services. She also has held executive-level positions at both Reuters and Standard & Poor's and has launched businesses in electronic brokerage, wealth management and financial services.

Alpert has nearly 20 years of international B2B marketing experience with technology growth companies. Most recently he was vice president of marketing at ContextWeb, an online ad exchange. Alpert has also held management positions with Wolters Kluwer and began his career in consulting with the Washington, D.C.-based Advisory Board Company.
