Jim DouglasJames H. Douglas, former governor of Vermont, has been elected to National Life Group’s board of directors.

Douglas is currently an executive in residence at Middlebury College — his alma-mater — and serves on the Governor’s Council of the Washington-based Bipartisan Policy Center. He was Vermont’s governor from 2003 to 2011, and prior to that, he served for 12 years as Vermont’s secretary of state and eight years as its treasurer. Douglas has also been a member of the state House of Representatives.

Douglas has previously served as chairman of the National Governors Association and as president of the National Association of Secretaries of State, the National Association of State Treasurers and the Council of State Governments.

“Governor Douglas is a man of unquestioned integrity who brings sound judgment, strong values and broad executive experience to our board,” says Mehran Assadi, National Life’s president and CEO.
