Eastbridge: Voluntary UL, Whole Life Sales Rise

Universal life and whole life sold well at the worksite in 2010, according to Eastbridge Consulting Group Inc.

Eastbridge, Avon, Conn., has reported that finding in a summary of results from a survey of 64 insurers that write voluntary, employee-paid group products; worksite products – individual products sold at the worksite; or both voluntary and worksite products.

Overall voluntary and worksite life sales increased to about $1.3 billion in 2010, up 1.5% from the 2009 total, Eastbridge says.

Term life sales fell 1%, to about $930 million.

Universal life and whole life sales increased about 8%, to about $400 million.

Disability insurance sales fell 3%, to $1 billion.
