Unum Donates $100,000 to Storm Relief Efforts

Unum Group Corp. is giving a total of $100,000 to United Way, Red Cross and Salvation Army relief programs to help the groups cope with the tornadoes and flooding that have hit the Southeastern states this spring.

Unum, Chattanooga, Tenn. (NYSE:UNM), also is match employees’ disaster relief gifts dollar for dollar, and it has asked employees to donate supplies such as flashlights, batteries, battery-operated radios, bottled water, diapers and wipes, and other toiletry items.

Chattanooga-area employees have assembled 2,130 lunches for the disaster-relief efforts, and 32 employees have received disaster-relief training from the Red Cross, Unum says.
