Mark Zesbaugh to Lead Security Life

The board of Security Life Insurance Company of America has hired Mark Zesbaugh to be the company’s new president and chief executive officer (CEO).

Zesbaugh was the CEO of Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, Golden Valley, Minn. – a unit of Allianz A.G., Munich, Germany – from 2002 to 2006. Since then, he has started a Bermuda-based reinsurer and served as a consultant.

Security Life, Minnetonka, Minn., recently revamped its dental, vision, life group disability insurance products, and it will be introducing a new brand May 16, the company says.

Security Life has specialized in selling personal life and health products and group products aimed at employers with fewer than 100 covered lives.

Brian Smith will continue to be the company’s chairman.

Zesbaugh has a bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas, where he serves as a trustee.
