The House Ways and Means Committee oversight subcommittee is organizing a hearing on state and local pension plan disclosure rules.

Rep. Charles Boustany Jr., R-La., chairman of the subcommittee, plans to hold the public pension funding hearing at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

In the hearing notice, Boustany cites estimates that public pension plans may have faced a funding shortfall of $700 billion to $1.3 trillion in 2009.
