A version of an article posted here March 7 described communications involving Coventry First L.L.C., a large life insurer and a consumer incorrectly.
Coventry First, Fort Washington, Pa., says a life insurer tried to keep a customer who had exercised a universal life policy conversion option from selling the converted policy by offering to pay a settlement equal to what Coventry First had agreed to pay for the converted policy, according to Coventry First.
Coventry First had not yet paid the insured for the policy at the time the life insurer made its offer.
