Washington State Adds Association Health Plan Data Call Regs

New association health plan (AHP) annual data filing requirements will take effect in Washington state April 8.

The new Washington state AHP data reporting template has 24 data fields, including fields for items such as enrollment at the beginning of the year, enrollment at the end of the year, health status factors, employer participation eligibility thresholds, and age group band enrollment.

If a carrier providing AHP coverage finds that an AHP block of business covers fewer than 10,000 lives, the carrier can hire an outside firm to aggregate the AHP block’s information with information from another AHIP carrier, according to the text of the regulations.

Washington state, like many other states, allows single-state AHPs to offer coverage within its borders; some have argued that multistate AHPs could be a good vehicle for helping small businesses buy affordable health coverage.
