Former U.S. Sen. George V. Voinovich has joined the Western & Southern Financial Group’s board of directors.
An Ohio Republican, Voinovich retired in January from the Senate, where he had served since 1999. Voinovich was Ohio’s governor from 1991 to 1998 and Cleveland’s mayor from 1980 to 1989. In Ohio, he has also served as assistant attorney general, a state representative, Cuyahoga County auditor, a member of the Cuyahoga County Board of Commissioners and lieutenant governor.
Voinovich has a bachelor’s in government from Ohio University and a law degree from Ohio State University.
“With 25 years of experience in the executive branch of government and 17 years in the legislative branch, especially his years as mayor, governor and senator, Western & Southern will benefit from his unique insights, proven counsel and depth of experience,” said John F. Barrett, Western & Southern’s president, CEO and board chairman.
