Baird said Tuesday that it added a veteran financial advisor team, the Crawford, Holzrichter & Morrison Group, to its new wealth management office in Sioux City, Iowa.  The group joins Milwaukee-based Baird from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, where it managed about $195 million in assets and has yearly sales (or production) of $1.5 million.

The three financial advisors in the group, Richard Crawford, Daniel Holzrichter and Jay Morrison all joined Citigroup, the previous parent company of Smith Barney, in March 2001. Gwen Berkenpas, the registered client relationship associate who is coming over to Baird with the team, joined team in August 2007.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Crawford, Holzrichter & Morrison Group to Baird,” said Erik Dahlberg, managing director and regional director for Baird’s Private Wealth Management group, in a press release.

“These well-respected and talented financial professionals are a great addition to the firm and their decision to join Baird speaks volumes about our culture and commitment to offer leading-edge wealth management solutions to individual clients and families in Iowa and beyond,” Dahlberg explained.

Employee-owned Baird now has more than 680 financial advisors nationwide with about $63 million in client assets. Since early 2009, it has added close to 180 FAs.

In Iowa, Baird says it also has offices in Cedar Rapids, Davenport and West Des Moines. "We couldn’t be more pleased that Conrad, John and Gray have chosen to continue their careers at Baird,” said Charles “Bucky” W. Knowlton Jr., branch manager of Baird’s Charleston office, in a statement. “They are a tremendous addition to Baird’s Private Wealth Management group and our team in Charleston, and their decision to join our firm speaks volumes about our culture and commitment to being the best financial partner for our clients.”

Before joining Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Zimmerman was with its legacy firm Robinson Humphrey. Zimmerman served as the former branch manager of Robinson Humphrey’s Charleston office and helped expand the branch from seven advisors and $600 million in assets to 34 advisors and $3 billion in assets.

“Baird’s client-focused culture and integrity really set the firm apart in today’s wealth-management landscape, and were key factors in my decision to continue my career here,” Zimmerman said in a statement. “I’m excited to continue providing the best financial advice and service to my valued clients at Baird.”
