Saybrus Forms Single-Premium Indexed Annuity Distribution Program

The Phoenix Companies Inc. is letting a group of independent marketing organizations have exclusive access to two families of Phoenix single-premium indexed annuities.

The Phoenix Companies Inc. is letting a group of independent marketing organizations (IMOs) have exclusive access to two families of Phoenix single-premium indexed annuities.

Saybrus Partners Inc., the wholesaling unit of Phoenix, Hartford (NYSE:PNX), is developing a retirement planning program that provides formats for group seminars and individual discussions between financial professionals and their clients. The seminars and the discussions cover retirement planning concerns such as longevity, inflation and market volatility. The discussions also cover the role of various funding vehicles, including annuities, in retirement income planning.

The firms that join the retirement planning program will be the exclusive distributors of the Phoenix Reflections and Phoenix Reflections Gold Series single-premium indexed annuities, according to Saybrus.

There are now 8 companies in the program, and several more could join this year, Saybrus says.

“Phoenix’s strategy over last two years has been to build a network of IMOs to distribute our products, primarily our annuity products,” says Alice Ericson, a Phoenix executive. “Some of the 8 IMOs have already been doing business with Phoenix, while others are new to the fold.”
