Americans seem to have more confidence in their finances, according to Country Financial.

The company’s Financial Security Index rose to 64.9 earlier this month, up from 63.1 in February 2010.

Country, Bloomington, Ill., bases the index on results from a telephone poll of about 3,000 U.S. residents.

The percentage of participants who rated their financial security as excellent or good increased to 41% this month, from 35%.

But the percentage of participants who said they are unable to set aside money for retirement or for their children’s education also increased — to 47%, from 43%.
