Your article was successfully shared with the contacts you provided.

CIGNA Corp. has arranged for 20,000 health plan enrollees in Afghanistan to get in-network care at clinics on air bases in Kandahar and Bagram.

CIGNA International Expatriate Benefits, a division of CIGNA, Philadelphia (NYSE:CI), that provides health coverage for people who live outside their home countries, says that about 20,000 of its 790,000 expat insureds are now in Afghanistan.

The insureds were having to leave Afghanistan to get routine, in-network care.

CIGNA now has negotiated contracts with outside medical services companies to set up two CIGNA clinics on the Kandahar air base and one on the Bagram base.

The base clinics will use physician assistants and registered nurses supervised by physicians to provide primary care, urgent care, physical exams, basic laboratory and radiology services, pharmacy services and dental services.
