Roger Sevigny to Lead IIPRC

Roger Sevigny will be the 2011 chair of the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission (IIPRC).

Sevigny has been the New Hampshire insurance commissioner since 2003. In 2009, he was president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), Kansas City, Mo., the group that organized the IIPRC, Washington.

The IIPRC also has elected Wayne Goodwin, the North Carolina commissioner, vice chair, and John Huff, the Missouri insurance director, treasurer.

Originally, the IIPRC had elected Mary Jo Hudson of Ohio to be the 2011 chair, Sevigny to be vice chair and Goodwin to be treasurer.

In Ohio, a Republican, John Kasich, is succeeding Ted Strickland, a Democrat, as governor.

The IIPRC tries to reduce the need for insurers to file different versions of a document, such as an application to sell a new product, in each state in which it does business.

The IIPRC creates standard rules and forms, and it handles filings that use the standards for all of the states in the compact.

The 37 jurisdictions now in the compact are Alaska, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
